Section B now has five compulsory numerical questions per subject — there are no optional questions any more. And no virtual calculator is provided at exam centres: every calculation is done on the rough paper supplied there.

Eligibility

Who can appear

CriterionRequirement
Class 12Passed in the last two years, or appearing this year
Age limitNone
AttemptsThree consecutive years from the year of passing Class 12 — two sessions each year, so six in total
SubjectsPhysics and Mathematics compulsory, plus one of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or a technical vocational subject
The 75% rule is an admission rule, not an exam rule

There is no minimum Class 12 percentage required to appear in JEE Main. The 75% aggregate (65% for SC/ST/PwD), or a top-20-percentile board rank, is required for admission to an NIT, IIIT or CFTI. Students lose a year to this confusion every cycle.

Common questions

JEE Main, answered

How many attempts are allowed in JEE Main?
Three consecutive years from the year you pass Class 12, with two sessions in each year — so six attempts in total. It is not unlimited, which is a common misreading.
Is 75% in Class 12 required to appear in JEE Main?
No. There is no minimum Class 12 percentage to appear. The 75% aggregate — 65% for SC, ST and PwD — or a top-20-percentile board rank is required for admission to an NIT, IIIT or CFTI. Students lose a year to this confusion every cycle.
Is a calculator allowed in JEE Main?
No, and no virtual calculator is provided on screen either. Every calculation is done on the rough sheets supplied at the centre, which is why mental arithmetic speed is worth practising deliberately.
Where can I get JEE Main coaching Faridabad students actually attend?
Zigyan Eduvision runs JEE Main preparation from SCO 107, Second Floor, Sector 16, Faridabad, in the Class XI, Class XII and dropper programmes. Small batches, weekly testing on the real CBT interface, and an AI report after every paper.
