Because that is how the record reached us. JEE Main is scored as a percentile and a rank, and Zigyan’s files for the earliest year predate the percentile column entirely, while one 2025 student is published with a percentile and no rank. A dash means we do not hold that figure. Filling it in with an estimate would be worse than the gap, on a page whose argument is that every number can be checked.

Yes, and that is deliberate. JEE Main is the qualifier: you sit Advanced only after clearing the Main cutoff. So each year on this page shows the JEE Main table with the JEE Advanced table for the same cohort directly beneath it. It is one group of students measured by two papers, not two separate lists.

These are the students whose results Zigyan publishes by name. The batch aggregates — 14 of 35 above the 98th percentile, 75% of the batch clearing — carry their denominators for that reason: they describe the whole cohort, while the tables name individuals. We would rather publish a small verifiable list than a large unverifiable number.

The percentile says what share of candidates scored below you; the rank says where you sit in the ordered list. Percentiles are normalised across exam sessions, which is why the NTA reports both and why both appear here. A 99.95 percentile in a year with more candidates corresponds to a numerically larger rank than the same percentile in a smaller year.
