Why we teach Olympiads at all

Olympiad problems are not harder JEE problems; they are a different activity. They reward a student who will sit with one problem for an hour rather than twenty problems for three minutes each — and that habit is exactly what JEE Advanced tests. It is why Olympiads sit inside the Foundation and Class XI programmes rather than being sold as a separate course.
